Nigerian actor, Tchidi Tchikere has revealed that he bought Chloroquine tablets at almost 6 times the usual price.   The hike in price comes after Donald Trump wrongly claimed that the FDA approved the drug for the treatment of coronavirus.  In a press briefing on Thursday, March 19, President Trump said that chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine – drugs used to treat malaria and severe arthritis – were approved by the Food and Drug Administration to test as a COVID-19 coronavirus treatment. However, the FDA made clear in a post-briefing statement that said “there are no FDA-approved therapeutics or drugs to treat, cure or prevent COVID-19.” The FDA said in the statement that it is working with government and academic entities that are investigating whether chloroquine can be used “to treat patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 to potentially reduce the duration of symptoms, as well as viral shedding, which can help prevent the spread of disease.” Trump’s statement was fa

The Lagos State government says hospitals in the state have begun receiving patients suffering from Chloroquine overdose. Recall that US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday March 19th that the drug is a possible cure for Coronavirus. Some Nigerians immediately rushed to the pharmacists to purchase and drink Chloroquine as a preventive measure.   The Lagos State government, through the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Health, Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih was quoted by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Gboyega Akosile, as saying that some hospitals in the state are now treating patients who took too many quantities of chloroquine, leading to poisoning. Chelsea and Three Lions of England Footballer, Callum Hudson-Odoi has tested positive for coronavirus, leading the Blues to enact a partial closure of their training facilities.  Hudson-Odoi, 19, is the first Premier League player to be confirmed to suffer from the virus, which has caused league closures in Spain, Italy and France as it was elevated to a pandemic by the World Health Organisation.  

The police in Ogun state have arrested a 40-year old man, Olanrewaju Adeyinka, for allegedly stabbing his younger brother, Gabriel, to death with a window louvre for bringing two life parrots into their home in the Ilaro area of the state.   Olanrewaju who was paraded before newsmen on Thursday March 12th, confessed to the crime but said it was a mistake and the handiwork of the devil. According to him, he returned home on the fateful day to see the parrots in their home and he got into an argument with his brother after he ordered that the parrots be taken outside.  The argument degenerated into a fight and in the process, he used a window louvre they broke during the fight to stab his brother. He claimed he was about taking the broken louvre to show their neighbors when his brother charged at him and then he used it to stab him.

A policeman has allegedly killed his wife and himself over alleged infidelity on Tuesday. The Ondo state-based policeman identified simply as Officer Tolulope, attached to Akungba Police Station has killed himself and his wife over alleged infidelity because she was receiving phone calls from different men According to sources, Tolulope had been having trust issues with his wife over the manner she was receiving phone calls from men. He reportedly shot dead his wife and thereafter committed suicide. The couple were said to have left a two-year-old and three-week-old children behind.

Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, has said he spends a whooping $2m (N731m) monthly on all his charity works. Mbaka who is the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, revealed this when he presented a N18.8m bank draft to the management of the Annunciation Specialist Hospital, Enugu, on behalf of Multi-Life Savers for the Less Privileged, a non-profit arm of his ministry.
