Fresh bomb blast kills suicide bomber, 5 others in Maiduguri

MAIDUGURI—A fresh bomb caused by suspected male suicide bomber, yesterday rocked the busy Musa Usman Secretariat Main Gate in Maiduguri, the Borno State , leaving four civilians including the bomber, and two policemen dead, with scores injured. File Photo: Gombe presidential rally Car-Bomb-Blast in 2014 The incident which took place at about 11:40am, was masterminded by a male suicide bomber who disguised as a lunatic and attempted to enter the Secretariat, but due to heavy security checkpoint at the gate, detonated the Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, strapped on his body killing him and the other five victims including the two policemen. The area was later condoned off by soldiers and men of civilian JTF before the arrival of Governor Kashim Shettima, his Deputy, Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa and other top government officials visited the scene. Briefing Governor Shettima, Chairman Borno State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Engineer Satomi Ahmed claimed only one Policeman was killed and dismembered beyond recognition with other five civilians dead and 6 other seriously injured. He said the charred bodies of the victims including the suicide bomber and the injured had been evacuated to State Specialists Hospital. When Vanguard visited the scene few minutes after the blast, it was observed that human parts including intestines littered everywhere while some were seen hanging on branches of trees at the entrance of the Secretariat. Confirming the blast, Acting Director Army Public Relations, in an email message confirmed the suicide attack at the entrance of Musa Usman Secretariat, Maiduguri, Borno State.
