Iheanacho scores 13th goal for City

Kelechi Iheanacho  scored his 13th goal in all competitions this season for Manchester City courtesy of a brace in a 4-2 loss at Southampton yesterday. The Nigeria starlet’s header in first half stoppage time pulled a goal back for City after they went down 2-0. He then smashed home his brace in the 78th minute, when he curled his shot with his magical left foot beyond the goalkeeper from the edge of the box. It was the 19-year-old’s seventh Premier League goal in five starts. The only little blemish on a great day in the office for the Nigeria star was when he was dispossessed  of the ball for the home team to go ahead and get their fourth goal. Iheanacho is making his debut in the Premier League this season after he came through from the City youth team.

Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh has claimed that Arsenal’s young winger Alex Iwobi has the potential to become the “best” player in the world from Africa. Iwobi, a Nigeria international himself now, has made seven chances in five appearances for the Gunners this season and should he manage to fulfil Oliseh’s prediction, he would follow in the footsteps of Didier Drogba, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Yaya Toure as winners of the African Player of the Year award. Iwobi’s Arsenal now sit third in the league, two points off of Manchester City at the top.
